Student Life

Season Greetings🎄

The University will close for Christmas this year on 22 December and reopen on 4 January. You can find more detailed information about what this means for services and access to buildings. If you’re on campus during the winter break, please remember:

Our Security team

Our Security team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies on campus or if you are worried about your own safety or a fellow student (including physical and mental health concerns). Call security on  +44 (0)191 208 6817.

The Safezone app

Consider downloading the Safezone app, a free app for all students and staff that connects directly to the University’s Security team if:

  • you need help while on campus
  • you’re feeling threatened
  • you’re a victim of assault/robbery
  • you need first aid or other assistance

What’s on over the winter break

If you’re spending December or the Winter Break in and around Newcastle, there are many events offered across the University and city for you to take part in. Please take a look at our winter programme to discover what’s on offer.

Wellbeing support

Should you need to access wellbeing advice during the winter break please visit Student Wellbeing – Student Wellbeing – Newcastle University (ncl.ac.uk) to see the full range of support available.

January travel disruption

There is information relating to travel disruption ahead of the exam period. This messaging is also available on the Student Noticeboard and a targeted message is being sent to students who have in-person exams on 9 January.
