Student Out of Hours Access Information

Below is some useful information about student access to the Business School building.

Personal Security – Safezone App

The Security Team  offer a free ‘Safezone App’ for your mobile, please feel free to visit the Safezone Website for more details. https://www.safezoneapp.com/ the app allows security to see your location on campus so they can quickly locate you and you can use the app to contact security if you need assistance.

Out of Hours

Out of hours is deemed as any time when the main reception on the ground floor is closed. Out of hours times are:

UG

Monday to Thursday 17:30 – 19:00

Friday 17:00 – 19:00

PG

Monday to Thursday 17:30 – 23:00

Friday 17:00 -23:00

Saturday/Sunday 07:00 – 20:00

Access

Access out of hours is via smartcard only. Students must sign in/out using the out of hour’s book at ground floor main reception.

Smartcards must be worn at all times. Please do not allow anyone else access to the building or rooms with your smartcard.

Access permitted to the following areas only:

Café – Ground floor – students should remove any food waste and dispose of this in the bins provided.

IT clusters 1.01, 3.03, and 4.03 – There is a no eating policy in the IT Clusters.

Student meeting areas 2.02, 2.06 and 2.07 -There is a no eating policy in these rooms.

Quiet Study Space 2.01 (PGT only) 3.08 – There is a no eating policy in these rooms.

The Hub student social space 5.07 – Students can eat in this area but remember to dispose of your food waste in the bins provided.

The Base 5.08 – There is a no eating policy in this room. 

  • Students accessing any other areas will be moved by staff or security.
  • University security will ensure that all students have left the building at the end of each session.
  • Abusive or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated and access will be revoked.

Note: first aiders are only available during core hours. Outside of core hours contact University security or the emergency services (dial 999).

Fire Evacuation procedures – Information is contained in your Home Sweet Home brochure and discussed during induction. Please ensure you read this information and familiarise yourself with the procedure.
