Summer workshops – placements and study abroad

As you come to the end of your first year at the Business School you might be thinking about doing a work placement or study abroad placement after Stage 2 and wondering how to get started.  There are specific requirements that placements must meet in order for them to be recognised by the university as part of your degree.

On 21 and 22 June the Student Experience Team will be holding a series of virtual workshops to cover topics such as:

  • What are work and study placements
  • How to start your placement search
  • Getting your CV ready

We will also have advice from an employer to provide their top tips and perspective on how to make yourself stand out in the recruitment process.

We’ll talk more about the options for studying or working overseas, and things to bear in mind if this is something you’re interested in.

We will be doing a lot more promotion of mobility options when you return for Stage 2 in the Autumn, but this is a great chance to get a head start once stage 1 exams are over. You can then start job hunting or researching options, talking to friends and family over the summer, so you’ll be ready to go when you return for next year. Many placement providers will start recruitment early in the autumn term so these sessions aim to help you get ahead and have some placement application strategies in mind to help manage this process during stage 2.
