Am I too late to get a summer internship, placement or graduate job?

Nooooo! There are vacancies to apply to – it could be small or medium sized companies who recruit closer to start dates, or larger companies who re-open applications to fill remaining places.

Not all opportunities are advertised, so create your own using a speculative approach to smaller employers who don’t run a graduate scheme, are in a specialised field or specific location.  Use your networks, contact alumni, and find employers using the Careers Service website’s company profiles, business directories and databases here: Researching employers , then approach them directly.

Research carefully to craft a tailored CV and covering letter addressed to a named person in the company. Call or email to find out who is responsible for recruitment in the organisation or a key contact in the department you want to work in. Follow up with a phone call a few days afterwards to evidence motivation.

The Careers Service is here to help you with the whole process – call in to King’s Gate without an appointment Monday to Friday 11:00 – 4:30 term time, 11:00- 3:00 in vacations and talk to our friendly staff.
