Online Sales & Merchandising
Every day will be different as a merchandising executive working within the world of merchandising, marketing and digital. You will be supporting the merchandising activity across the TUI and First Choice websites, two of the leading travel agency websites in the U.K. You will work with people across the business giving you a broad and in-depth understanding of the whole company. Whilst also taking accountability for aligning customer communications across multiple channels, coordinating messaging and promotions with Social Media, Online Marketing, CRM, User Experience, Design, etc.
Balancing customer needs with the broader TUI UK&I commercial and eCommerce business goals will be a key part of the role, so you will be reviewing online sales performance and identifying merchandising opportunities to hit targets. Understanding customer needs and wants will also allow you to suggest changes to the customer journey and experience, whilst also contributing to the execution of the Digital Marketing Strategy. You will also build a close relationship with the Design team to produce innovative and engaging content that balances the needs of the business with that of the customer, and carry out regular competitor analysis to track activity within the rest of the industry
We’ll be recruiting for various student jobs across the Commercial and Cruise Divisions. Initially, you’ll apply for a single role (Commercial Assistant) and we’ll then use our Assessment Centre and your preferences to work out which role and team would suit you best. All roles are well positioned to gain full insight into the Commercial functions of a Tour Operator.
As a Product Assistant you will be responsible for supporting the planning and product activity and helping to implement the product strategy for a set of resort areas within the TUI UK&I portfolio. You will play a fundamental role in analysing the cost base of your resorts and then setting the pricing/ margin strategy accordingly to ensure your destinations meet both financial and strategic objectives. In addition, you will work with a wide range of teams across the business to help deliver both our printed brochures and our web content and ensure that our product is promoted correctly and accurately across all distribution channels at all times. You will also be responsible for monitoring sales and quality to ensure you have the right product offering both right now and for future seasons to ensure we continue to help our customers “discover their smile.”
As a Trading Assistant you will be responsible for optimising sales, profitability and bed/cabin utilisation performance across your resort areas/ ships in order to hit Key Performance Indicators. In this analytical role, you’ll be reviewing sales trends and yield system activity to make effective recommendations to deliver your resort trading strategy, in line with market conditions – think the stock market but for holidays! You have a wide range of tools at your disposable to maximise the saleability of your resorts/ ships and trading gives you the opportunity to make a real difference to the bottom line of the business on a daily basis. You’ll interact with other parts of the business regularly, making recommendations and having discussions that will help to drive both current and future business strategy.
The purpose of the Commercial Executive position is to provide support to the destination team. Working closely with the Destination, Yield and Aviation teams this will be achieved by providing market & portfolio analysis, supporting the trading performance of the destinations, monitoring competitor activity and working with the Content & Customer Proposition teams to ensure the right level of exposure for key properties & strategic partnerships. You will also be required to support in the pricing of our products, starting at the initial brochure pricing through to early and late trading. You will gauge demand for certain products to ensure that we maximise revenues. The commercial executive will also be expected to build a strong understanding of our cost base and identifying any areas that need to be addressed. You will also be involved in the pricing, loading and trading of our ancillary products.
