Vacancies open to students studying business related subjects are:
Asset Investment Team – Seaham: Project managers and engineers delivering major capital projects in collaboration with our supply-chain partners. A unique opportunity to see projects through all their lifecycle. You’ll be supported to take responsibility. You’ll also spend time with an engineering design and build contractor or with a commercial management consultant. Ideally studying an engineering discipline, project management or STEM subject.
Commercial Team, Durham: We’re involved in diverse activities and are offering opportunities to gather real business data, analysing it for current and potential activities to inform our decisions, identify efficiencies and to learn about contracting and procurement. You might travel to our commercial operations in Scotland, Ireland and Gibraltar. Competent at Maths, you’ll be studying engineering, science, finance or a commercial subject.
Customer, Durham: Our purpose is to understand our customers’ needs and expectations and to collect bill payments effectively. One opportunity will work in our team taking all the feedback and intelligence from customers to create actionable insights from it, to improve customer experiences, reduce customer contact, streamline processes and deliver more efficient ways of working. You’ll need to be numerate and good at finding solutions to problems. (Ref NU3) The other will work on a significant investment in new digital/web platforms and other innovations to improve customer experience and satisfaction and/or deliver efficiencies. You’ll ideally have digital experience.
Information Services, Durham: We’re critical to the effectiveness of the business, developing, implementing and supporting technologies to enable and support our operational activities, customer services, infrastructure security and regulatory commitments. You’ll join the Intelligence & Analytics Team on cutting edge project and business-as-usual work using data science and analytics to drive decision making, collaborating with major organisations in the water, IT and engineering sectors. You’ll be studying for, or using, Maths as part of your degree.
Scientific Services, Washington, We’re one of a small handful of teams who work with both water and wastewater operations. We aim to make NWG drinking water quality and environmental management national leader. You’ll gain project and day-to-day experience, technical process knowledge, exposure to regulation, consents, audits, investigations & data management and analysis. You’ll be studying a science, environmental or business degree.
Strategic Planning & Economic Regulation, Durham. We lead the approach to discovering and understanding what our customers want. Eg ‘which is the most important and why – to reduce leakage or sewer flooding’. You’ll work with companies specialising in customer research, behavioural economics and developing software. You’ll be curious, creative and interested in people. With such a wide ranging set of skills this role is not limited to any particular degree but is open to anybody who can demonstrate a real interest in this area.
