Can you help us work out what will happen if the world changes?
Virgin Money has been on quite a journey over the last few years, listing on the stock exchange, growing rapidly, and attracting more customers as we continue on our quest to make ‘Everyone Better Off’.
Our Treasury function is the beating heart of Virgin Money, helping the bank to function smoothly and also being in the front line of managing some of the risks that every financial institution faces from events that impact on the financial markets. With Brexit, an interest rate cut, the election of Donald Trump, and now a General Election, there continues to be plenty going on to keep us busy!
We have fantastic opportunities for talented graduates to help us do this. These roles are perfect for someone who has recently left university and is looking to break through in to financial services within a leading bank – a bank which is doing things differently. You’ll learn on the job (from some of the best – if we do say so ourselves) through shadowing, training and simply being thrown into the mix on some really important bits of work.
We currently have opportunities in both of our Market and Liquidity and Funding Risk Management teams. A role in either team will involve a lot of work conducting analysis that will provide insight for our senior leaders, which in turn will help them to make informed decisions. Both teams work closely together, considering the potential implications of future
macroeconomic, political and regulatory developments whilst also looking at the risks associated with our products and improving our ability to predict what our customers will do in the future.

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Person Requirements: Enough about us; what about you? Well for starters we’d like you to have a sensible head on your shoulders, the ability to think analytically, and have great attention to detail. Ideally we would like someone who has an interest in the economy and an eagerness to learn more about the financial services sector and banks. You can learn just about everything you’ll need to be successful in the job on the job, but we’ll need you to be hungry for information and eager to learn and develop yourself.
Degree Discipline: We’ll consider Graduates from any discipline, as we feel that how you can help us in the future matters more than what you’ve studied so far, but we will need to see evidence that you are highly numerate and very comfortable with numbers and big data sets. But if you can do that and pull out the key messages from your analysis in a succinct way, verbally and in writing, then that will really help you to stand out from the crowd.
